Maighréad & Tríona

UPDATE 02/FEB/2009 1pm: You can see pictures from the concert online thanks to others who were there on Moya’s Official forum. More pictures will be posted to head over and join! You can find some links here and here. Ná coimhéad ró-fhada!

UPDATE 02/FEB/2009 11am: Moya, Maighréad, Tríona & Mairéad were interviewed before the concert for RTÉ. You can listen to it here. The four also sing ‘A Stór, a Stór a Ghrá’ a capella.

ORIGINAL 01/FEB/2009 2pm: Just back from Dublin – and the festival was madness! There were some amazing sessions and Michael McGoldrick’s concert was a big hit. The Button Factory last night was buzzing! I’ve never seen Moya play so much harp and I’ve never been able to hear the harp so clearly so that was amazing. I had my worries because Moya, Maighréad, Mairéad and Tríona’s voices are so completely different – but they gelled together really well. Songs that Clannad/Altan/Skara Brae etc. have done in the past like ‘Ar a Ghabhail ‘un a Chuain Dom’ and ‘An Mhaighdeán Mhara’ were performed. And the four were so funny – the ‘real’ story behind ‘Caidé Sin Don Té Sin’ and the laughter behind ‘Two Sisters’. It was a really energetic gig, expect lots of official photos on the festival’s website in the coming days and concert footage!

Mairéad sang ‘Mo Níon Ó’ and ‘Dobbin’s Flowery Vale’ from her upcoming album, ‘Imeall’, and there was lots more traditional stuff. No other musicians, just the four and Tríona was just amazing on piano, keyboards and vocals!

After the concert everyone headed off to sessions and the festival club and the Button Factory was turned into a nightclub! Altogether a night of madness xD
