Artist Showcase: Dingle White Females & James Graham

The next two artists in our artist showcase series.

Dingle White Females

Dingle White Females

If you like Moya Brennan’s beautiful ‘Pill a Rún Ó’ and the early acoustics of Clannad’s ballads, you will undoubtedly love the Dingle White Females live. They sound amazing recorded, and have kept things very simple. The two vocalists who form the band are Pauline Scanlon and Eilís Kennedy, two infamous young singers in Ireland. Listen to ‘Fill, Fill a Rún Ó’ (Pill a Rún Ó), it’s really worth it. The Dingle White Females will be in Belfast on December 6th, and will undoubtedly be touring Ireland, both as a band and with their various solo projects. You can listen to their music at their official MySpace page: myspace.com/dinglewhitefemales

The singers are both well known solo singers as well, so you can find out more information on Pauline (and her gorgeous albums) and the amazing Eilís on their own websites, cdBaby or Daisy Discs – record label to Nóirín Ní Riain, Amen and Sharon Shannon.

James Graham

James Graham

James Graham is a Scots Gaelic (Gàidhlig) singer who was born in Lochinver in Scotland. When the music came to his attention he began to learn the music of Scotland. His début album was released a few years back, and his second album ‘Greisean Gréine / Sunny Spells’ is available now. The music is beautiful and can be both pure, like the music of Cliar, and instrumentally packed (but in line with voice). I met James a few years back in Belfast when he was over with another beautiful singer, Anne Martin. If you read Irish, you can check out the review I wrote for the Irish News. You can also listen to samples here. James is also a member of the band, ‘Mary Ann Kennedy & Na Seoid’ (MAK & the Heroes).

James, in various line-ups, will also be appearing at Celtic Connections 2009 in Glasgow.
