‘Sanctuary’ Launch a Major Success
I had the honour of attending the sanctuary concert, and have never found better hospitality than that which I was given so wilfully at Glenstal Abbey by Fr. Joseph McGilloway OSB (Sanctuary producer) and The Monks of Glenstal who were so friendly and put me up! I’ve kept a wee diary in my head, so here’s what happened.
I arrived at Glenstal on Thursday night, and was greeted by Fr. Joseph and met Nassau Royal (David), Eoin Ó Súilleabháin, James O’Brien-Moran and another student (whose name will come to me!). The school has such talented musicians!
On the Saturday I attended mass and had a chat with some of the other amazing musicians. I was completely star-struck! On Sunday I had the privilege of being at the rehearsals and had a lovely chat with Alyth (who I first seen live 13 years ago!!… but I’m not supposed to tell anyone xD). I also had a chat with Moya and Tim who were so so welcoming as usual and heard Moya perform ‘Stand Beside Me’, composed by Fr. Columba. It was one of my favourite concerts of all time, and I still can’t stop smiling. It was such a beautiful night!

The album covers are stunning (photo/set by Mella Travers and design by Tim Jarvis), you can now view them (and launch pictures!) on the Sanctuary MySpace site. The word ‘Tearmann’ on the inner cover is Gaelic for ‘sanctuary’. It is such an AMAZING album for three charities that need our support, so head over to MySpace and get buying! (&grab one for a friend!).
Finally: We’ve added some photos of the Glenstal grounds and castle to our gallery!
